Tool 06 / Website and identity estimator

A five-page website in Austin starts at $2,400. Move the sliders and see where yours lands.

This is the estimator we use on the first call, with the same per-unit ranges. Set the page count, who writes the copy, the identity tier and the print pieces. The band updates as you go. It is a planning range for website design and brand identity work, not a quote.

Every figure below comes from the ranges table further down this page. Nothing is hidden in a package.

Live price estimator

5 pages

Zero means no site. The first five pages sit inside the $2,400–3,600 base. Pages six to fifteen add $280–420 each; sixteen to twenty add $220–340 each, because by then the templates already exist.

Copywriting

Editing adds $60–90 per page. Writing from an interview adds $110–160 per page. Most clients who say they will write it themselves send the copy four weeks late.

Identity
0 pieces

Menus, flyers, one-page leaflets: $240–520 each, delivered as a print-ready PDF with bleed and an editable file.

0 sets

Each set is twelve editable post and story templates, $640–1,100 per set.

Timeline

Rush multiplies the whole total by 1.2. It pays for evenings, not for skipped steps. Proofs still get printed.

The numbers behind the band

Per-unit ranges for website design, logo and print work

Low end and high end, per unit. The estimator adds both ends of every line, rounds to the nearest $50, then applies the rush factor if you picked it.

Print figures cover design and file preparation. Printing itself is billed by the print vendor at cost, and we tell you the vendor's number before you approve it.

Reading the band

Why a small business website quote moves inside its range

Two things decide where you land. Content, and decisions.

A nine-page site for a contractor with finished copy, its own project photographs and one owner who signs off lands near the bottom: roughly $3,900 for the build. The same nine pages for a clinic with three partners, a writer interviewing each of them and a rebuild of six old URLs lands near the top. Same page count. Different job.

Identity work moves on the mark itself. A wordmark set in a modified typeface is quicker than one drawn letter by letter on tracing paper, and we tell you which one we think your name needs on the first call. Print moves on stock and finish. A letterpress card on 600 gsm cotton costs more to proof than a digital card on 350 gsm, and both get proofed on the real paper before you approve them.

What the estimator does not price: hosting (you pick it and pay for it, usually $5–25 a month), domain names, stock photography licences and print runs. We will not mark those up and we will not resell them to you.

Questions about the estimate

Is the number on this page a quote?

No. It is a range for planning. A written quote follows a call, and it names the pages, the deliverables and the two revision rounds before any work starts. If the written quote comes out above the band you saw here, we explain the line that moved.

Why does the band get wider as I add things?

Every line carries its own low and high figure, and the totals add up both ends. A site with twelve pages and a full identity system has more places where scope can move than a five-page starter.

What makes a project land at the low end?

Finished copy delivered on time, photographs you already own, one decision-maker, and a clear list of pages. Projects drift to the high end when content arrives late or the brief changes after the first round.

A third revision round usually means the brief was wrong. We stop and fix the brief before drawing anything else.

I only need a website redesign. Which line is that?

A rebuild that keeps your content and URLs runs $1,900–5,200 depending on page count, which is usually under the new-site line because the writing exists. Set the slider to your current page count and mention the rebuild in the form. The websites page covers what a rebuild changes and what it leaves alone.
