Studio 07 / Austin, Texas, since 2016

Four people have run this brand studio in Austin since 2016, and the client owns every file we make.

Vorngix is a small design studio, not an agency, trading at vorngix.com from 83 River Road, Office 12, Austin, Texas 02757. We design websites, logos and identity systems, and the printed and social pieces that go with them, for local businesses that want to look finished without a campaign.

How the studio started

The logo said one thing and the website said another

That was the problem in 2016 and it is still the job we get most often.

A business pays a designer for a mark, then a different person builds the website on a theme, then someone at the front desk makes flyers in whatever font the laptop offers. Three years later the coffee bag, the homepage and the menu look like three companies. Nobody did anything wrong. Nobody was holding the system.

Vorngix started as the answer to that: one small team that sets the name in good type, draws the colour and spacing rules once, and then applies them to the site, the card, the menu and the social posts. The scope is narrow on purpose. We would rather finish the base layer properly than sell a fourth thing we do badly.

The other half of it is ownership. Sites ship as hand-written HTML and CSS you can host anywhere, with no platform subscription between you and your own homepage. Identity work ships with the source files, every format, plus a one-page use sheet the front desk can follow. We do not hold a logo hostage.

What the studio makes

Websites, identity and the everyday pieces, from one system

Every price below is an indicative band. A written quote follows a call, and it names the deliverables before work starts.

5pages

Starter website, $2,400–3,600. Static HTML on one template system, live in about three weeks. Business sites of 6–15 pages run $4,800–9,500 with our writer included.

400KB

Our homepage weight ceiling. Most sites we rebuild arrive at around 6 MB. A rebuild keeps your content and URLs and costs $1,900–5,200.

6items

An identity system is applied to six real items before handover, $4,200–7,400. A logo and wordmark alone is $1,800–2,900.

12templates

A social template set, $640–1,100. Cards and stationery are $380–850 per set, menus and flyers $240–520 per piece.

Who does the work

Four roles, and the same people from first call to handover

No account managers. The person who draws your wordmark is on the first call, and the developer who writes the code answers the bug report thirty days after launch.

  1. 01

    Director and designer

Runs the first call, writes the brief back to you in plain words, draws the marks. Signs off every proof before it leaves the room.

  2. 02

    Designer

Builds the identity out into the system: palette, type pairing, patterns, the six applied items, the guidelines PDF and the print files with bleed.

  3. 03

    Front-end developer

Writes the HTML and CSS by hand, holds the 400 KB homepage budget, and moves the site to whatever host you choose.

  4. 04

    Writer and producer

Interviews you, writes or edits the copy, keeps the calendar, and is the one who asks for your photographs twice.

One room, a flat file and a printer we do not trust for colour

The studio printer is for layout checks only. Screens lie about colour and so do office inkjets, so every card, menu and letterhead gets a proof from the actual print vendor on the actual stock. It sits on the table under daylight for a day before anyone approves it.

The flat file holds proofs from earlier jobs. When a client asks what 350 gsm uncoated feels like against 600 gsm cotton, we open a drawer instead of describing it.

Who we are not for

What the studio turns down, and why

Saying no early is cheaper for both of us. If you need one of these, we will usually name someone in Austin who does it well.

The failure we see most is a business that bought a site on a monthly platform, stopped paying, and lost the site. We build so that cannot happen. That also means we are the wrong fit if you want us to run the platform for you forever.

Not on the list

We do not run your ads or your social accounts

Other people do that well. We make the templates; someone else posts them.

  • Ad buying, campaigns and media planning
  • SEO retainers billed by the month
  • Apps and e-commerce stores with carts and checkout
  • Sites locked to a page-builder subscription
  • A third revision round before the brief is fixed

Reach a person

Write, call, or book a visit to River Road

Messages go to the studio inbox and are read by the four people above, not a call centre. We answer on working days. Visits to the studio are by appointment, so call or write first.
